SonaPERT has state-of-art laboratory facilities in the area of high voltage and electric power engineering. It has a dedicated research team to carry out R&D projects funded by govt. agencies and industries. SonaPERT has carried out several funded research projects and completed all of them successfully.

Dr.S.Chandrasekar, Head of SonaPERT has wide experience in the area of high voltage and electric power engineering and he has completed doctoral degree from IIT Madras during 2005. He is also a post doctoral research fellow of University of Bologna, Italy for a period of one year from 2005-06. He is also a recipient of Career Award for Young Teachers from AICTE, New Delhi.

Development of diagnostic techniques for partial discharge analysis of outdoor insulators
Development of nano-composite insulating materials for high voltage applications
Development of condition monitoring system for power transmission line

Innovative products developed from SonaPERT are mainly due to strong research work carried out in the area of electric power and high voltage engineering. SonaPERT members have published research papers in many International/ National journals.
